Hi, I'm Jer a quiet introvert that keeps himself to himself and is softly spoken, tactful and articulate (and also very careful with the truth)
I have lived in the Forest of Dean all my life and early in 2022 a friend recommended that I should audition for the position of Town Crier, Cinderford Town Council were hosting a competition as they wanted a Town Crier to be in place to support the 2022 Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. I was successful in my audition and as a result supported the fantastic events with others from across the World that marked this amazing milestone for our monarch.
I am a member of the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers and as such have public liability Insurance of up to £5,000,000. I am available for events (subject to availability) and where possible will always try to prioritise and accommodate not for profit and charity requests free of charge. I love the role of the Town Crier, in a world of ever advancing forms of communications, a town crier can provide an audio and visual experience to an event that simply can't be recreated by technology, it's an artform and tradition like no other and I am very proud to be a part of it.
I like to write bespoke crys for events and my crys will often take the form of rhyming verse (see example of my Town Cry for Cinderford below)
On 20th April 2024 I dipped my toes into the world of Town Crier Competitions, I entered the Yeovil Championship and I was placed first out of 11 criers, I then followed it up with a second place at the Bromyard Championship held during May 2024. I may try my hand (and Bell) at some more competitions in 2025.

Oyez Oyez Oyez!
Ow Bist thee old Butty I welcome ye all,
Now pray silence for this criers call.
From a town between two rivers a land of emerald green,
renowned for its beauty the Forest of Dean.
Suppliers of great oaks for the admirals fleet,
and providers of fuel from beneath our feet.
Retrieved by brave souls that showed no fear,
In woodlands of life wild boar and deer.
From the battles on our pitches Dockham road, St Johns, the Causeway,
Remaining true to the Forest in the spirit in which we play.
So be not a stranger to Cinderford come visit explore our wares,
And join us for a jar or two but don't mention who killed the bears!
God Save the King.
